[PHPBB2] How do I change my 'forum description', 'forum keywords' or 'forum category'?

The phpBB2 and phpBB3 forums allow for a variety of utilities, such as changing forum descriptions, changing categories, uploading logos, and more.

This brief walkthrough will guide you in changing your forum description for the phpBB2 forums.

Firstly, you will want to login to your forums, and click on the 'Go to Administration Panel' link at the bottom of your forums.

Once you are in your Administration Panel, click on Advanced Options -> Configuration

In this area, you will find 4 separate fields :

1. META Keywords
   As suggested, this allows you to optimize your forum for search engines such as google, yahoo, msn, and our own listing. This is strongly advised
2. META Description
   A description of your forum, what it is, what you do. This, again, will help you to optimize your forum for search engines, etc. After all, you DO want people to find your forum, right?
3. Meta Abstract
   This is an 'abstract', or short description for your forum, typically 100 words or less
4. Forum Category
   This will allow you to change your forum's category should the need be there.

I encourage everyone to login and change (at minimum) 1 & 2 to something descriptive of your forums. This will help you immensely in regard to traffic and getting your forum more populated. In addition, it will make your forum more distinct.
