Default Restore an existing phpbb database - 01-14-2008, 07:12 PM

Hi

Have just signed up for the hosting.

I note that within the admin control panel there are options for backing up and restoring the database, however despite being the site admin these are not available to me.

Do these need to be enabled or are these functions not allowed.

The reason I ask is that I presently have an existing forum that I wish to move to this one, however if I am unable to transfer the existing database details, then I am unlikely to be able to convince my 160+ forum members to move over to the new site

many thanks for your assistance

Hello, and thank you for your request. I do apologize on the delayed response, am not sure why I didn't get notified of this request earlier.

The database function is there as a paid function only, and may not work if you're trying to import from an older version of phpbb, or a different multi-forum script.

In a case like this, I would probably have to manually import the database due to the db structure changes placed by the multiple additions I've made myself in phpbb. This is possible to do, easily, but not something that can be done for 'free'. It will be a one time $30 charge.
