Default Smilies - 02-10-2008, 10:37 PM

I was hoping to add my own smilies on my forum but as it happens I seem unable to do so. It bothers me slightly since I read about simple machines where it says the ability to add smilies would be possible. I have made pak files and was hoping there is a chance to upload them. I made a booboo and asked about this in an email to the forum support, not knowing that I am supposed to post my questions about it here. Mea culpa
I kindly ask the staff to please help me since I know the ppls I intend to invite to the forums have a love for using smilies.

I have uploaded that pak files here:
fun_smileys.rar - FileFront.com
ahem... and then realised I forgot four more so I made a very small addition.
cute_smilies.rar - FileFront.com

Our site: Login
I hope this is not an inconvenience.
Very best regards

I hope I will remember what I was not supposed to forget.....

Your smiley pack has been added. Please follow the instructions here for how to enable it on your site. I've named the set 'Fun'. Ignore the OpenDNS stuff, that is simply the directory and web path of the smileys, don't change any of that!

For future reference, your sitename isn't needed, nor is login information. If it is, it will be asked for directly, never in a thread. We only need the forum name you're using, and the hosting platform (phpbb3, etc), which is why these two options exist in the profile. If you've filled those out, then all is good, and we can easily help you out.

Just a quick follow up
I had to remove the smiley set because it doesn't follow the SMF standard. This HAS been added to phpbb3 (will add it to phpbb2 shortly), but SMF really doesn't have a lot of smiley support. The only support for SMF is in the following names:

Quote:
afro.gif angry.gif cheesy.gif cry.gif evil.gif huh.gif kiss.gif lipsrsealed.gif rolleyes.gif shocked.gif tongue.gif wink.gif
angel.gif azn.gif cool.gif embarrassed.gif grin.gif laugh.gif police.gif sad.gif smiley.gif undecided.gif
Ignore the index.php and index.html files in there .

Hopefully SMF2 will have more smiley support, but right now, we're very very limited with what we can add to SMF for smileys.

Oh, I see. And here I thought the SMF abilities were so very endless *shakes head* Oh well, I agree. We will wait and hope for better versions of the thing
Thank you very much for helping me, twhiting9275

Btw, if I make a new pack with renamed smiles to fit the listed supported ones, could that be added?

I hope I will remember what I was not supposed to forget.....
