Default Posting problems - 02-10-2008, 10:45 PM

There has occurred a minor issue in the forums. We have all experienced a problem with posting. When a post is made, the member does not return to the place he/she made the post but jumps right out of the thread. Is it possible to change this? It would be a bit nicer if one can actually see what one has posted instead of having to jump back and forth with every post. Am I missing something in the admin panel, perhaps?

I hope I will remember what I was not supposed to forget.....

This appears to be not a 'problem' per se, but a feature of the software. SMF appears to not do this as one would expect. I'm kind of surprised by this myself, and will investigate it a bit more when I get the chance, but it would appear that this is the default way of SMF doing things. Odd, you bet, very, very odd compared to VB and phpbb!

I am sorry for double posting but I so badly wanted to say that I have found the solution to this problem. It is not where one might expect to find it . Here is what you have to do:
Go to Admin panel and then select "Current Theme". There are two options above the board of choices that you get. One is "Manage and Install" and the other is "Reset Options". Choose "Reset Options" and you get a list of the available themes. Scroll down to your theme and choose "Reset all members' current options for this theme". Here is the option "Return to topics after posting by default". Make sure to select "change", mark the box and save. Voila! You return to the thread when you post

I hope I will remember what I was not supposed to forget.....

And this is one of the benefits of community support. Everyone benefits from shared knowledge. Thank you for pointing that out. Not sure what's up tere, or why SMF went that way with things, but thank you for pointing that out.
