Round 1 officially kicked off with a big ol bang this morning. NONE of these mods should have any issues at all with templates, as they don't actually require templates:
Mod #1: Custom Error pages
Simple, easy to deal with. This removes those ugly ol' Apache pages and keeps errors wrapped in your forum. Very nice, and it keeps users actually interacting with your forum.
Mod #2:
Minimum Posts to Download
This one isn't a 'configurable' addon just yet, but I'll make it so when I can. This encourages users to interact with your forums, while still allowing downloads.
Mod #3:
Welcome PM On First Login.
One of my favorite phpBB mods is now in the system and ready for your use. See the link on how to configure and use it (pretty pictures included)
Mod #4: Post Count to Access Forums:
This is a configurable addon that you can use to require a certain post count to access certain forums. A great way to entice your users to post and reward for doing so.
Mod #5: Ban users by X Warnings:
You may now ban users by issuing warnings. The configuration for this is in ACP-> Board Settings, and is pretty self explanatory.
Mod #6: Default Avatar:
Your forum now has a default avatar (not configurable, sorry) that simply shows a user has no avatar set. Great idea for involving user interaction
Again, ALL of these mods are now in play, no matter what theme you're using. I'm in the process of checking a few others out, though this is a pretty decent jump from no mods at all!
Enjoy
